The secret of change is to focus all of your energy, not on fighting the old, but on building the new”
Easier said than done, right?! The reality of life is that change is the only constant; whether positive or negative, the struggle to cope with and adapt to an ever – changing world can be stressful at best, and seemingly unmanageable at worst.
As a school psychologist, special education administrator, and licensed educational psychologist, I have worked with hundreds of children and young adults in the public and private settings, over the past 18 years. This has afforded me the unique opportunity to work with individuals from a wide range of cultural and socioeconomical backgrounds, with varying strengths and challenges. I also possess an in-depth understanding of disabilities as defined by The Individual with Disabilities Educational Act (IDEA), and local districts’ processes and procedures for supporting students requiring specialized education and related services.
I specialize in Trauma, ADHD, Anxiety, Depression and Autism Spectrum Disorders, as well as academic, career and life counseling. With almost two decades as a school-based practitioner, I have a well-rounded and comprehensive grasp of the challenges facing our youth today, within the home, school and recreational settings.
As humans, we want to be seen and accepted, and known and valued; thus, I approach therapy from a stance of openness, curiosity, compassion and understanding. Because therapy is as individual as you are, and there is no “one size fits all” approach. I provide therapy from a strength based, growth mind-set perspective, utilizing techniques from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Trauma Informed Practices and Approach, Collaborative Problem Solving and Mindfulness.
